Marvin Rall is a dynamic youth leader, community mobilizer, and health activist from Wentworth, Durban. As a proudly queer changemaker, Marvin’s mission is rooted in advocacy for LGBTQIA+ rights, gender justice, mental health, and inclusive access to healthcare. His voice and actions have echoed through clinics, schools, parks, protests, and even United Nations initiatives.
Marvin’s service spans across multiple NPOs, including Thabitha Community Care Services, where he works as an HIV Lay Counsellor, administrator, and youth outreach facilitator. His responsibilities range from conducting educational talks on HIV/AIDS, STIs, mental health, and gender-based violence, to offering psychosocial support in clinics and schools.
He also volunteered for CANSA, delivering cancer education and screenings door-to-door, and was part of the MLCCP (Multi Lung Cancer Control Program) campaign. As a UNHCR fieldworker, Marvin promoted social cohesion by delivering diversity workshops in primary schools. His environmental work includes beach clean-ups with the Bluff Tidy Team, and he’s led feeding programs for vulnerable families through thrift shop fundraising.
Founder of The Flaming Hearts Foundation, Marvin has created safe spaces for queer youth to connect, learn, and access support services. He is also an active member of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) and Men Engage Africa, working on gender equality and survivor advocacy. A Global Citizen Platinum member for seven years, Marvin backs his passion with real action—organizing marches, running programs, and challenging discrimination.
With boundless energy and lived empathy, Marvin Rall is proof that activism isn’t a title—it’s a lifestyle of service.
