Sbonelo Magwaza is the visionary founder and CEO of the Slethukukhanya Foundation, a KwaZulu-Natal–based nonprofit transforming lives through disability rights advocacy, youth empowerment, and healthcare access. With no formal degree but deep practical expertise, Sibonelo has built one of the province’s most respected grassroots organizations—currently running eight programs serving rural and marginalized communities.
Since founding the organization in 2017 (and formally registering it in 2020), Sibonelo has spearheaded the Save A Child with Albinism initiative, benefiting over 100 children through sunscreen, sunglasses, and awareness campaigns to reduce stigma and promote inclusion. His work with this vulnerable group has been nationally recognized, earning R63,000 from Ukhozi FM and R30,000 from IMPSA.
Slethukukhanya Foundation also addresses youth unemployment through skills development—training young people in security, transport, and product manufacturing. Under his leadership, the foundation has implemented GBVF awareness campaigns in partnership with the AIDS Foundation of South Africa and the Australian Embassy’s Gender Links Program, engaging men in dialogue and community healing.
Sibonelo works closely with the KZN Department of Health and the Umkhontokayise Clinic, supporting HIV/AIDS education, PrEP access, and adolescent health programs. In Q10 of 2024 alone, the foundation mobilized over 600 youth, facilitated testing and counseling, and reached thousands through door-to-door campaigns.
From being honoured by IMPSA and Ithuba Agribusiness to securing multi-stakeholder endorsements, Sibonelo Magwaza is proof that when vision meets community, change becomes inevitable.
