Sikhumbuzo Amogelang Nene is a Grade 12 learner at Hatfield Christian School with a heart for service, a voice for youth, and a passion for change. At just 18, she has built an impressive legacy as a radio presenter, assistant teacher, mentor, and community volunteer — all while excelling academically and artistically.
As a volunteer host of That’s My Chat on Impact Radio (103FM), Sikhumbuzo creates space for young people to share, reflect, and grow through candid discussions about real-life challenges. Her voice has become a source of encouragement and healing for many teens navigating identity, pressure, and purpose.
Off-air, Sikhumbuzo is an assistant teacher at Thee Drama Club, where she began as a student and now mentors younger learners in both drama and academics. She also supports the club’s extracurricular academic program, tutoring in English, Afrikaans, and Mathematics.
She is a long-standing volunteer with Fundanani Afrika, where she plays a key role in workshops on menstrual health, teen pregnancy, and career development, helping distribute sanitary products to girls in underserved areas.
Whether teaching, speaking, or organizing outreach events, Sikhumbuzo brings empathy, leadership, and resilience to every space she enters. She inspires by doing — creating platforms, mentoring others, and leading with love.
Sikhumbuzo is proof that young women don’t need to wait to lead — they already are.
