Viwe Gilbert Bonga is a driven youth development leader, public speaker, and co-founder of the Tshilidzi Project, a non-profit organisation offering academic support and mentorship to learners in under-resourced schools across Philippi, Cape Town. With over eight years of hands-on experience in education and community development, Viwe has dedicated his life to empowering South African youth.

His leadership journey began early, serving as a junior and later senior mentor in life skills and environmental programmes. Viwe quickly became known for his passion, resilience, and ability to lead others — skills that laid the foundation for his future initiatives.

Through Tshilidzi, he has built a team that now serves over 200 Grade 8 and 9 learners, offering tutoring in English, Maths, Science, and Life Orientation. The programme also nurtures learners’ talents, particularly in debate and public speaking — areas in which Viwe himself has excelled as a coach at Sophumelela High School.

Beyond academics, Viwe mentors young adults through national programmes like YearBeyond and Scouts South Africa, delivering life skills and leadership training to prepare them for further education and employment.

Recognised by mentors and peers alike for his strategic thinking, strong leadership, and deep community roots, Viwe Bonga continues to be a role model to young people. His mission is to transform education and social development in townships by building resilient, confident, and capable youth who are equipped to shape their own futures.
