Dumisani Richard Mvubu is a passionate performer, director, and co-founder of Hana Hearts Productions, a community-driven arts organization based in Soshanguve, Gauteng. Together with his creative partner, Zamambo Mkhize, Dumisani uses theatre and performance to uplift youth and combat pressing social issues such as substance abuse, teen pregnancy, crime, and gender-based violence.

Through compelling productions like Montlenyane The Musical, MUSHI – The Smoke (a powerful play about drug addiction), and Kedibone (a GBV awareness piece), Dumisani brings urgent conversations to the stage — empowering young audiences with both awareness and hope. His shows have featured at the Mzansi Fela Theatre Festival at the South African State Theatre, and have been staged in clinics, universities, and schools across the province.

Hana Hearts Productions has earned accolades including:

• Best Dance Group – Mzansi Arts & Media Awards

• Best Musical Director – Afripella Music Festival

• Performing Arts of the Year – Mabopane Community Achievers Awards

• Awards for poetry, music, and dance through GOMACC and Thusanang Foundation

The company also delivers industrial theatre productions tackling workplace issues like harassment, diversity, and occupational health, with clients such as MeCRU and Woman of Worth. Their latest project raises awareness about endometriosis, featured in The Citizen’s Rekord publication.

Dumisani’s vision is clear: use art not just to entertain, but to educate, heal, and transform lives. Through Hana Hearts, he is raising a new generation of artists with purpose.
