Elcardo Chulu is a visionary leader, seasoned creative, and the dynamic founder of both Masakhane Arts Centre and CEO Consultants. Based in Upington, Northern Cape, he has spent over a decade empowering local talent and using the arts as a vehicle for community upliftment and social change.
A multi-talented artist, Elcardo is a skilled stage director, actor, photographer, videographer, and scriptwriter. His creative portfolio includes acclaimed productions such as Desperate, Silence In The Dark, and Die Hokmeisie, as well as impactful media appearances on platforms like SABC and Joy Prime TV in Ghana.
As an arts facilitator, Elcardo has collaborated with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture and the Department of Education, mentoring emerging creatives and spearheading workshops on drama, film, photography, and event production. Through Masakhane, he nurtures artistic expression across theatre, music, and film — bringing original South African stories to life while also addressing pressing societal issues.
Elcardo’s influence extends beyond the stage. He is a former Provincial Coordinator for the Cultural and Creative Industries, a respected radio presenter on Radio Riverside, and an advocate for accessible, inclusive arts education. His collaborative projects include community-led productions, radio dramas, and sustainability-focused partnerships.
