Kesa Molotsane is a globally recognized long-distance athlete and one of South Africa’s most respected ambassadors for women in sport. Born in Thaba ’Nchu, Free State, Kesa began her athletics journey at just five years old. She has since gone on to represent South Africa at 4 World Championships, 2 World Student Games, African Championships, and multiple CUCSA Games — all while championing community upliftment, youth leadership, and educational advocacy.
While studying at the University of the Free State (UFS), Kesa earned her green-and-gold national colours at only 14, became a Golden Key Society inductee, and won senior national titles across track, cross country, and road running. In 2017, she made history as the youngest woman to win the SPAR Grand Prix in her debut year — a title she claimed just a week after representing SA at the World Cross Country Championships in Uganda.
Off the track, Kesa is a committed community leader. She currently serves as:
• Vice-Chairperson of the Athletes Commission for Athletics South Africa
• Member of the USSA Athletics NEC
• Longtime ambassador for ASICS, MACAH Foundation, and GSport4Girls (also a 2022 judge)
Through her sanitary towel drive and motivational talks in schools and hospitals, she uplifts young girls and new mothers — advocating for wellness, education, and dignity.
Double-inducted into the Golden Key Honorary Hall of Fame, Kesa Molotsane runs with purpose, and her legacy reaches far beyond the finish line.
