Khodani Negota is a visionary cultural practitioner, educator, and multidisciplinary artist whose work is reshaping how South Africa preserves and celebrates its rich heritage. As an acting coach, storyteller, film producer, and program facilitator, she blends traditional African knowledge systems with modern tools — turning art into activism and heritage into living history.
Born in the village of Matshavhawe in Limpopo, Khodani leads groundbreaking projects that centre indigenous voices and empower rural communities. As Program Facilitator at the Far North Youth Development Initiative and the Limpopo Art and Heritage Festival NPC, she has developed initiatives like the Far North Art Fair and the Bronze Casting Project, creating economic opportunities and platforms for emerging artists.
She also leads one of South Africa’s most ambitious preservation projects — the creation of the country’s first rural community AI Heritage Archive, digitizing oral histories and indigenous knowledge for future generations. Her BRICKS Mobile Heritage Museum brings interactive cultural exhibits to rural areas, making history tangible and accessible.
Khodani’s outreach includes her work with learners with disabilities at Fulufhelo Special School, where she facilitates cultural dance and drama through the Vhumbedzi Cultural Outreach Program. Her students recently took first place in a regional performing arts competition — a testament to the inclusive, transformative power of the arts.
