Lwando Valashiya is a passionate youth advocate, mentor, and community organiser with a strong commitment to empowering young people through education, leadership development, and social change. Based in the Eastern Cape, Lwando has made it his mission to be a catalyst for hope and transformation in his community.
As a product of a challenging upbringing, Lwando has turned adversity into purpose. His work spans youth leadership, civic engagement, and educational empowerment, particularly in marginalised areas where opportunities are limited. He has served as a facilitator, mentor, and programme leader in numerous school-based and community initiatives focused on uplifting disadvantaged youth.
Lwando’s impact includes organising youth dialogues, delivering motivational talks, coordinating academic support programmes, and advocating for mental health awareness and gender equality. He is deeply committed to nurturing young leaders and equipping them with skills to face real-world challenges. His approach combines empathy, strategic thinking, and grassroots activism.
In addition to his community work, Lwando is a dedicated peer educator and has collaborated with NGOs, local schools, and government departments to implement initiatives addressing key issues like substance abuse, gender-based violence, and youth unemployment.
