Obakeng Kopano Metswamere is a dynamic agripreneur, youth development champion, and the visionary founder of Obakopano Trading & Projects — a farming enterprise rooted in the heart of Tswaing Municipality, North West. Raised on a farm and taught to drive a tractor at the age of 7, Obakeng’s journey began with a single heifer gifted by his grandfather. Today, it spans over 250 hectares of cultivated land, a team of 7 employees, and countless lives impacted through training, mentorship, and rural job creation.

Since launching Obakopano in 2022 (after years of operating as a sole proprietor), Obakeng has built a resilient, diversified agribusiness that includes sunflower, livestock, and mixed crop production. His success led to support from the Land Bank, Department of Agriculture, Lima Rural Development, and recognition by ABSA Bank, who selected him for their Youth Revive Your Business Campaign — providing funding, mentorship, and strategy support.

In 2023, Obakeng was selected from over 6,000 applicants into the SAB Foundation’s Tholoana Enterprise Programme, receiving 18 months of business acceleration and investment. By 2024, he won Top 10 in the Standard Bank NW Pitching Challenge and was selected to represent South Africa in a China–SA Skills Exchange Programme, where he was elected leader of the SMME cohort.

With a degree in Human & Social Sciences and practical farming experience from childhood, Obakeng Metswamere is a grounded visionary — cultivating land, leadership, and lasting rural impact.
